Wayne sketches his drawings before he draws his final artwork, he calls these drawings his thinking drawings. He uses these drawings for his final artwork by looking back at them and fixing his mistakes and seeing different techniques. Thiebaud’s preparatory sketches relate to his paintings because they both have heavy shadows. The tie that is most to the right is different because it is farther away from the others. It is also has more of a swirly design and the others have neat patterns like lines or circles. I think he separated it because it must mean something to him. Maybe he wore a tie just like that for an important event.
